As the saying goes, “Everything is bigger in Texas!” Beyond the stereotypical cowboy aesthetic associated with this US state lies a clientele of rich women of superfluous luxury. Brandon Maxwell, a Texan in both heart and craft, chose to honor these women for his spring 2019 show in New York. It was his usual array of cocktail dresses and red carpet gowns, this time, painted in the starkest reds and pinks with a few sunbursts of lemon yellow and seafoam green. The collection was pure Americana, taken from the pages of Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren but spun for a more elegant evening look. These were the types of clothes that socialites from the Lone Star State will look divine in, as well as the A-list celebrities in Hollywood. While there were no revolutionary fashions on the runway, the show was a refreshing palette cleanser of true American beauty and sophistication—Texas style!
