Lancôme Hypnôse Drama Lengthening Mascara Review

Lancôme Hypnôse Drama Lengthening Mascara Review
Product Description
The Lancôme Hypnôse Drama Lengthening Mascara has so much potential that ultimately ended up getting squandered by the kinks in its formula. Sure, the color payoff and the easily visible lengthening effect are near-magical, but honestly, we don’t think these things are worth it if a product is going to make your lashes look chunky (not in a good way) anyway. We’re definitely disappointed by this one.

With the Hypnôse Drama Lengthening Mascara, beauty brand Lancôme offers “instant lash drama in a single coat,” without any clumping or flaking. That easy, huh? While we do think that this mascara stays true to what it advertises, for the most part, it’s everything else about this mascara that we find ourselves a little concerned about.

But first, the good. For a black mascara, this product certainly does pack a punch—maybe more so than many mascaras out there whose “blacks” basically amount to looking like dark, ashy greys. There’s really no doubt about it: in terms of color intensity, this one’s a winner. The lengthening effect it advertises is something it also commits to. With one coat, lashes are left looking just a little bit longer than before. It also helps that this mascara is resistant to flaking, so you don’t really have to worry about looking like a raccoon at the end of the day.

One of the things that concerned us about long-time usage of this product is how messy it gets. The mascara tube doesn’t have a stopper at the mouth to take the excess product off the wand, so you’re often left with just too much mascara on the wand, and eventually, on your eyelashes. It also doesn’t hold curling as well as one would think. With this product, eyelashes are left to turn downwards pretty early into the wear time of the mascara. In terms of the overall look, we were also a little bit confused. The point of lengthening mascaras is for achieving a spindly, separated look, but at the end of the day, wearing this mascara made our eyelashes look chunky—annoyingly so.

Our verdict? For the pretty penny you’ll have to shell out for this product, you could buy a different mascara (luxury or drugstore) that can do what this one wants to much more effectively. The revelation is a little disappointing because this product held so much promise but ultimately did not deliver on what it could’ve potentially done.

SUITABLE FOR: All skin types.
