Dior Makeup’s Diorshow line of mascaras are always in the spotlight as far as mascaras go. This line has gained a reputation for turning out some of the best mascaras in the game today. But the Diorshow Pump ‘N’ Volume Waterproof Mascara really is something quite special in the way it performs.
The eponymous “pump” of this product really does make a difference in the way this product applies. Instead of just feeling thick, this particular mascara, once pumped, also feels almost fluffy. This change, to us, bodes well for this mascara. First, we really like the pigmentation of this product. Your lashes really get a nice, opaque look just from the color, and this immediately makes them look thicker. The main star of the show is the way it fluffs up the lashes. This mascara was intended to create intense oversize lashes for an almost falsies-like effect, and boy, does it do just that. This formula does not lack in giving that high-intensity and compounded volumizing/lengthening effect. This is something that truly wowed us about this formula. Just as great is the fact that this mascara can really hold a curl—and not just hold at that. Instead of just keeping the pre-existing curl in place, it adds to it, creating an even more intense curl. And on top of it all, the fact that this is waterproof is the cherry on top of this mascara-shaped cake. This allows it to wear for extended periods of time through various conditions.
But ultimately, the strengths of this product also feel like weaknesses in a way—not major weaknesses, but weaknesses nonetheless. The formula, thick and fluffy as it feels, is also quite easy to overapply, and the results might not be disastrous, but it can make the product a little harder to handle. Also, the formula is quite dry, which means it also has a tendency to flake just a little bit. You won’t end up looking like a raccoon or anything, but it’s probably best to check on the product every now and then when you’re wearing it.
Overall, we love this mascara and all that it’s able to do for us. Even if we do have to do a few extra check-ins just to see how it’s doing for us, that’s nothing compared to how rich this product makes eyelashes look because of the combination of its unique qualities. Definitely a mascara we will be going back to over and over.
