We’re not going to lie, Valentin Yudahskin left us depressed with his latest offering. With the somber tones, the couture-like shapes, and the head-scarf accessories, it was all a bit too Grey Gardens for us! And who’d want to look like two old dames living in an old and decrepit mansion? In our honest opinion, while Yudashkin’s Fall 2019 collection was beautiful in concept and construction, the overall impact was just too sad. It had way too much black, not enough sparkle, and some silhouettes looked rather awkward. Not to mention the offensive fit of some of the frocks for cocktail hour and the evening. A nude-colored pleated gown, for instance, looked incomplete in execution and seemed to have been made by an amateur intern. While the last number—with its metallic breastplate and weirdly-draped jersey—simply looked awkward. If you want to stay happy this fall, best to steer clear of this depressing mess!
