Mira Mikati seems to be in a festive mood this season, and it shows in her latest line. With a rainbow of colors and embroideries, her Fall 2019 collection captured a distinct jovial spirit that was, admittedly, heartwarming to see. However, we also felt that her clothes looked a tad too childish at times. Where was the sophistication? Where was the elegance? Though it wasn’t a vulgar lot, we just couldn’t connect Mikati’s upscale womanly clientele with this heavily juvenile offering. That quilt-looking skirt and the gingham jumpsuit were nice, but they also looked humorous, and we don’t mean that in a good way. Perhaps the most sophisticated number is the sparkling jumpsuit in sequins, but even this number had a pajama-like quality that looked rather poor. All in all, we felt this could have been a better offering than what was ultimately realized!
