Remember the good old days of rave culture? Cropped tops, leather jackets, skin-tight slips, and flared-out jeans? It wasn’t the most sophisticated style to sport—which was never the point in the first place—but it was fun, fresh, and cool! The look is so nuanced, it’s almost hard to think it’d still look desirable today, right? Wrong! Léa Dickely and Hung La achieved refining the looks for a more modern audience, or basically the grown-up versions of those party animals dancing in the underground raves. In their Fall 2019 collection for Kwaidan Editions, they took all the signature tropes of rave culture style and made them more sophisticated and polished to perfection! Those flared-out bottoms? Now they’re floor-length and made in navy wool and paired with a nice paisley yellow drawstring coat. The animal prints? Cut into sleek streamlined coats and suits in shimmering leather. And of course, we can’t forget the tank top, which here becomes a sky blue creation with stark yellow piping for that multi-dimensional glow. Though it would have been difficult to imagine then, the rave look of the past is now one of the most elegant styles for the coming season!
