Luxury is not a look, but a quality. It takes a lot of craft and skill for one’s clothes to be deemed luxurious. Fortunately for Sally LaPointe, she’s reached that pinnacle in the retail industry. As proven by her Resort 2019 collection, this New York-based designer knows a thing or two about trotting out high-quality pieces. This season, she focused on athleisure, probably influenced by her brand’s ambassadress Gigi Hadid, in the form of long and lean lines of cashmere, silk, and knits. In a bold color palette of cobalt, apricot, cream, and a hint of clinical white, there was both a sophistication and sportswear element to this offering. They were minimal design and silhouette, but one could easily look elaborate and ostentatious with the right accessories. Each look, all perfectly monochromatic, exhibited a fierceness that many it-girls and social media influences will just die to have in their closets. And if there’s one word to aptly describe this collection, ‘luxury’ is certainly fitting!
