In recent years, designers taking inspiration from their roots and origins had been a popular trend and garnered considerable success both on the runways and in retail. For Resort 2019, Antonio Berardi took this up a notch by not only going back to his roots but moving his brand along with him. This season marks the first time this Italian immigrant, who grew up in the UK, presented his collection in Milan. His line offers a perspective on what it means to experience two cultures at once and how that can shape one’s unique style. The result was a beautiful yet cohesive mish-mash of British sportswear aesthetics and Italian sensuality. The former was shown with the tailored pieces, particularly a series of stand-out separates that will work well with any look! A series of frilly and bias-cut dresses brought about the signature Italian sensuality, showing off the right amount skin to encourage seduction but to still leave a bit of mystery as well. Two extremely different cultures, all mixed together beautifully by a designer who’s defined by both.
