Color seems to still be the main talking point for Sally LaPointe. While other designers out there mix and match different hues, prints, and textiles—most in a rather maximalist fashion—her Pre-Fall 2019 Collection is all about taking on the monochromatic look. In many ways, this is quite a confident feat as LaPointe is letting her customers choose only about four to five hues to wear for the season. Although they’ll have the choice to wear different colors at a time, there’s a sense of cohesion in many of the pieces that almost forces one to buy the entire outfit instead of just the top or just the bottom. In a way, this collection pushes women to be as unabashed as they are in their desire to sport one color. However, LaPointe did make subtle ways in which one color can still look incredibly interesting. There’s the mixing of textures—from the fluffiness of the furs, the plushness of the knits, to the shimmering silks and satins. For evening, draping was done to create more flattering and utterly sensual silhouettes, making the monotone look less streamlined. While many women might still be apprehensive to go for the monochromatic look that Sally LaPointe is offering, it has, however, tickled the fancies of it-girls Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid. And if the look is good enough for them, why wouldn’t it be for other ladies out there?
