NYX Cosmetics Angel Veil Skin Perfecting Primer Review
Product Description
The NYX Cosmetics Angel Veil Skin Perfecting Primer isn’t just a dupe for other more expensive primers; it’s a perfectly serviceable product that manages to stand on its own by managing to do so much for your skin and makeup. Formula-wise, it’s very workable and easy to use, and the way it refines skin is enviable. Although this product may not be the best match for folks with darker skin because the luminizing “angel veil” may make their skin look pasty, it’s still an all-around marvelous product that has us wanting more.

The Angel Veil Skin Perfecting Primer by NYX Cosmetics has been referred to as a dupe for so many more expensive luxury primers out in the market today, but in our opinion, the product stand on its pretty well without all that in mind.

The primer, which is a slightly watery lotion-type formula, is extremely easy to work into the skin, no finessing required. Once you’re able to work it into the skin, the primer creates a subtle “film” that envelops the skin, the so-called “angel veil,” that has a blurring effect which appears to flatten out any imperfections. This same veil also makes skin very soft and smooth to the touch. In terms of finish, it’s a glowy matte that is able to control shine over prolonged wear time.

Sure, this product is great, but it’s also worth noting that it’s noticeably more expensive than your typical drugstore product—not that it feels anything like a run-of-the-mill drugstore product, of course. Besides this, the main downfall of the formula of this product is that on darker skin, the “angel veil” leaves a sort-of white cast, especially if you end up applying just a little too much. It might look more like luminizing on light to medium skin, but it tends to make darker skin look pasty, especially if there’s no foundation over it.

So, overall, this is an admirable attempt from NYX Cosmetics at this kind of primer. While it may not be absolutely ideal for all skin tones, the fact that it can do what it’s able to is still something to commend, and we’re definitely hooked.

SUITABLE FOR: All skin types.
