As far as drugstore products go, Milani Cosmetics is one of those brands that we’d probably entrust our whole routine to. Now, the brand has come up with its very own “step one,” the Prime Perfection Hydrating + Pore-Minimizing Face Primer, which we think is a great way to start one’s makeup routine.
This very affordable drugstore primer does a fantastic job of evening out the skin tone ever so slightly. It’s not full-coverage or anything, but it gives skin the “right” look for when you’re about to put on your next layer of makeup. As this product’s name promises, it offers a truly great amount of hydration, which is important in allowing skin to attain the softness that would make for a fantastic canvas upon which your makeup is placed. Also, unlike other hydrating primers we’ve come across, this one is just a little bit tacky, which tends to work in its favor because it allows a greater hold for makeup to last much longer than it perhaps normally would.
A pretty significant issue with this product would have to be that, despite the promise of the opposite, it doesn’t provide much in the way of smoothing or blurring out imperfections on the skin, including and especially large pores. It does a little bit in the way of that, but we wouldn’t say it’s the most reliable in that sense.
Nonetheless, we did enjoy reaping every single one of the benefits of this primer, and there are a lot. If your skin is in desperate need of hydration but your complexion doesn’t really require a lot of assistance, check this primer out. It might just become your very own holy grail.
