The Strobe of Genius Illuminating Palette, as its name implies, is a palette containing seven different shades of highlighter. In our opinion, NYX Cosmetics did a pretty great job putting this palette together, and we’re very happy that we picked it up.
This palette gives you true value for your money, and we don’t take that statement lightly. You get a really generous amount of product in this palette for each of the seven shades contained within, and that alone gives great value to this product. But besides its value, there are also a lot of things that can be done with the various shades in this palette. Besides being used as highlighters, you’re also very much welcome to use these as glittery eyeshadows, especially if you go in with brushes moistened with spray or mist. And the color selection! Oh, the color selection is absolutely fantastic, and there’s just so much great variety within this one palette. And in terms of the product’s actual formula, we’re also quite happy. It goes on really nice and smooth, and it’s particularly long-wearing.
On the other hand, there are some things we didn’t like about this palette as well. First, despite all of them looking gorgeous, we wouldn’t say all the shades of this palette are particularly flattering on everybody who wears them. Perhaps that’s just a side-effect of having a lot of shades in one palette, but it was definitely something that stuck with us. Second is the glitters in the different highlighters here. Because of the nature of highlighters, glitters are pretty much unavoidable, but we did notice some significantly chunkier bits of glitters that would sometimes make the product look uneven as well.
Overall, we think NYX did a really great job of putting this palette together, and in our opinion, it’s a great place to start if you’re looking to experiment with different highlighters looks in your makeup routine.
