Laura Mercier Hydrating Foundation Primer Review
Product Description
We instantly fell head-over-heels in love with Laura Mercier’s Hydrating Foundation Primer. There’s a certain level of creaminess in the consistency that serves to set it apart from other primers out there as well as make application so easy. It’s also so much more hydrating than many a primer we’ve come across which makes this product quite ideal for those with dry skin.

It’s always a delight to see products that know who they’re for and tailor their strengths specifically to their target market. This is the case for the Hydrating Foundation Primer from Laura Mercier. It’s one of those products where, just by looking at it, you have an immediate understanding of who it’s made for.

The creaminess of this product, considering it’s a primer, is actually quite surprising. It’s not runny or anything, but it might confound you a little bit at first if you’re used to working with thinner, more watery primers (which are most primers). This consistency might be uncommon but it definitely helps the product go on very evenly. This product also offers a slight hint of radiance to your skin. If you’re feeling like it’s looking just a little bit dull, put some of this primer on, and you’ll immediately see the difference. Of course, because this is a hydrating primer, your skin will also feel quenched—and not just upon initial application. The hydration lasts as long as you have your makeup on, so you won’t be having any problems with it feeling dry or anything. And of course, we really appreciate that this primer helps makeup last longer, which is always a good thing in our book.

Besides the slightly high price point, actually, the only thing we don’t like about this primer is that it does have a fragrance. We can’t quite put our fingers on what it smells like, only that it’s a bothersome smell that’s not particularly overwhelming, but still kind of assaults the olfactory nerves.

Besides this minor quibble, we really like how this product performs. The amount of hydration it’s able to provide the skin is basically unbeatable, and it should definitely be a primer to consider for people who have issues with their dry skin.

SUITABLE FOR: Normal to dry skin.
