Resort is the season where designers can present their simplest, most minimal, and most essential designs. Lots of labels do this, from the pared-down looks at Miu Miu to the easier-to-wear ensembles at Armani. New York-based designer Mara Hoffman also went this route for her resort 2019 collection, taking inspiration from the Mediterranean. Stepping away from the urban chic aesthetic she’s known and loved for, these clothes were definitely for a woman of leisure relaxing in South Italy. This season was also distinctly more feminine, what with all the knitted pouf sleeves, accentuating bustiers, and floaty silk-like slips. The easy silhouettes and neutral color scheme made it almost evoke a more vintage vibe, back to an era when camel was the ultimate color for any woman. While it was a relaxing and subdued offering, there were few standouts that would certainly jolt any client with excitement, particularly the floral print party dress perfect wear for a night out of endless dancing.
