Few setting sprays out there can actually compete with their mid-range and high-end brethren, but the Matte Magic Mist + Set Spray by e.l.f. Cosmetics is able to put up a fight, and compete with other more expensive products just by being itself.
One of the things this product is able to achieve is making your makeup look more cohesive and blended out. Sometimes, when we’re in a rush, we don’t even realize that our makeup isn’t very well-integrated, but with this mist, everything is able to come together so much better than they otherwise would. In addition to that, it also adds a slight layer of luminosity to punch up your makeup look. And of course, as a setting spray, it manages to extend the wear time of your makeup for a pretty decent amount of time.
On the other hand, while packaging surely isn’t everything, the packaging of this particular product gives away just how cheap the product is, which, of course, is not something one would normally want. Also, while it does extend wear time, the formula also works against itself a little bit by making the skin a little bit oilier than it should be.
By no means do we think this setting spray is miraculous or anything—it’s not Urban Decay’s All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray, that’s for sure. But we will say that it’s overall a pretty solid product, and a great alternative for when you can’t really invest in something more expensive.
