Milani Cosmetics Rose Powder Compact Blush Review
Product Description
The Rose Powder Blush from Milani Cosmetics is both stunning to look at and apply. This blush provides absolutely beautiful color and a soft matte finish that allows it to blend onto the skin’s color naturally. It’s very easy to overapply so if you tend towards a heavier hand during makeup application, beware of that. But in our opinion, this is definitely, hands down, one of our favorite drugstore blushes that we’ve ever had the pleasure of trying.

Milani’s Rose Powder Blush is probably one of the most distinct-looking blushes in the beauty world right now. Pressed to look like a painstakingly detailed depiction of an actual rose flower, this product has become a beloved drugstore product that enthusiasts keep coming back to over and over again. This, initially, is what drove us to give these products a go, and see how well they work for us.

As we’ve pointed out, this product looks absolutely stunning in the pan. It’s definitely one of the most impressively pressed powder products we’ve ever gotten our hands on. Providing a bright dose of rosiness is one of the strengths of this product. Whether you opt for a pinkier shade or the brighter coral, all of the shades look very fresh once applied to the cheeks. The blush formula is also lovely to look at. Being a soft matte powder, it’s not too shiny, and releases color on to the skin without looking artificial. This blush also holds on to makeup quite well, not budging or getting oily until roughly the eight-hour mark.

But this blusher does have one significant downfall, though. If you work the pan too hard, you might just find yourself with clown cheeks (or maybe a more context-appropriate visual reference would be “Pikachu cheeks”). Yes, the colors are gorgeous, but not using a light hand could easily be the downfall of your entire makeup look, which puts this product at a severe disadvantage just because when you’re working your makeup in a rush, it’s difficult to capture the light-handed precision you need to get just the right amount of product. Another more specific gripe we have is that it doesn’t look quite as great on dry skin as it does on normal or oily skin, so that should definitely be a consideration for this product.

All-in-all, this was a satisfying product to use. Because it’s so pretty, the first swirl of our blush brush was a little tentative because we didn’t want to ruin the beautiful pan pressing, but it held well—the pan pressing and the actual blush formula, we mean. Definitely among our favorite drugstore blushes.

SUITABLE FOR: All skin types.
