Anastasia Beverly Hills Matte Liquid Lipstick Review

For a brand as successful as Anastasia Beverly Hills, it should seem like they shouldn’t struggle so hard with a product like liquid lipstick, but we feel like they do—very much so. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick is, according to the brand, a “long-wearing matte lipstick.” As of the time of this writing, this liquid lipstick has an absolutely monstrous 41-shade range that covers all the basics as well as some more intense, bolder shades. From farther away, it may appear like the packaging is run-of-the-mill, but holding it in your hands, it’s a little bit heavy, and definitely much more luxurious. Applied onto the lips, the formula is actually pretty comfortable, and it dries down to a lightweight matte that doesn’t feel too drying or sticky (like some other liquid lipsticks). One of the most bothersome things about this product is its scent, which is chemical-like and can be detected whether the product is fresh out the tube or has been on your lips for a little while. The formula is also not great for layering, which means small touch-ups throughout the day are out of the question unless you decide to remove all of the product already on your lips. This becomes a larger issue when you know that the lipstick just can’t get through meals, wearing out, even flaking, throughout the day. Overall, it surprised us how many issues this product had, and we were generally disappointed by the performance, even if the shade range is impressive.
