The Rouge Coco Flash from Chanel Beauty claims to deliver “intense high-shine” effortlessly. In our opinion, this lipstick mostly delivers on what it promises, creating a pretty great wearing experience, even if there are certain things about it we wish could be better.
The colors that one can get from this lipstick are absolutely beautiful. Sure, it’s not really the most diverse line of lipsticks out there—most of the shades reside somewhere around the pink, nude and red parts of the spectrum—but the shades that are there are truly gorgeous, and very flattering. We would also like to commend the finish of this product. The dry-down of this lipstick is what makes it so easy and comfortable to wear because of the way it sits on the lips like a very soft cushion. In the same vein, this lipstick is also particularly hydrating, which contributes to the comfort one will feel while wearing this lipstick. On top of these, this product is also so lightweight—like, you wouldn’t even believe you’re wearing a lipstick. There’s so much to love about this lipstick.
But we do wish there could still be some improvements made to this lipstick. For example, while we do think the colors look great, we’re also of the opinion that the pigmentation is very thin. In many ways, this product feels more like a tinted lip balm with only slightly more pigmentation. It’s definitely not for fully glammed-up looks, that’s for sure. Another thing we wish this product could improve on is the wear time. While we do appreciate how comfortable this product is to wear, it’s kind of difficult to keep it on the whole day because it just doesn’t adhere quite as well to the lips as we hoped it would. At the slightest introduction of food or drink, the product transfers and disappears from the lips necessitating more than a few touch-ups throughout the day.
That said, we enjoy this product for what it is. While we’re not particularly big on sheer coverage lipsticks, especially ones that require constant touch-ups, this one’s actually pretty solid. There are certain things we wish we could get out of this formula, but the formula as it is right now, is actually pretty reliable.
