Despite her very urban and cosmopolitan style, Ulla Johnson‘s works always have a tinge of exoticism to them. This might be because she’s known to have artisans from all over the world help make her exquisite offerings. Her Fall 2019 show is no exception, and in fact, the collection highlighted her worldly appeal. Whether it’s the colorful sweaters knitted in Peru or the stunning silk dresses embroidered in India, each look had a piece of another country’s craftsmanship. This makes her clothes all the more valuable, not to mention the beautiful designs. This season, Johnson had a very sophisticated take on bohemian chic, slightly akin to that of Etro and Missoni. But here, the look is very much American and cosmopolitan, what with the draped leathers, the clash of prints, and the mix of textiles. When broken down, such pieces are show-stoppers in their own right but when styled together, they make for such a glamorous impact!
