In his 20th-Anniversary show during New York Fashion Week, Philipp Plein delivered a commendable show that displayed all his strengths without looking vulgar. Unfortunately for Plein, his favorite signatures often toed the line between sexy and seductive and downright vulgar. In his Fall 2019 show, most of his beloved staples—leather pieces, animal prints, camouflage, and the like—were reworked to evoke a more refined attitude and better silhouettes. Most of it was due to the fine tailoring. From the shapely sportswear to the evening-wear, each and every suit, both for the men and women, were expertly cut and beautifully styled. Perhaps the most striking of all the exits were the two consecutive leopard-print creations for both sexes. They exuded class and charm, but still seduced with their animalistic ferocity! This was the kind of Philipp Plein that we’d rather see more of—fewer gimmicks and more craftsmanship! Congratulations on your two decades, Mr. Plein! We hope you keep this sophisticated streak up!
