Smashbox Crystal-Infused Crystalized Highlighter Review
Product Description
There’s no doubt about it: The Crystalized Highlighter from Smashbox Cosmetics is an absolute beauty of the product. The gemstone-covered packaging and the gorgeous one-shade formula convey true luxury in one seemingly simple product. It’s dragged down quite a bit by a slightly messy formula and a slightly mediocre wear time, but despite its price tag and its faults, it’s still a highly enjoyable product to use.

We’re not usually the type to be into one-shade-fits-all kinds of products. We believe having just one shade for absolutely everyone kind of robs some people of the full experience of finding a product that fits them the most. That said, if the formula of a certain product is refined much more thoroughly because it only comes in one shade, that’s something we might be interested in. Hence, we picked up the Crystalized Highlighter from Smashbox Cosmetics.

First off, this really is a gorgeous product inside and out. The packaging does convey a certain level of luxury in being coated with gemstones, and the pan pressing is visually striking. The actual color of the product is superb, transitioning from a champagne silvery highlight to a light pinky rose gold when hit by the light. The slightly creamy consistency of this powder highlighter also puts the product over the top by making it so easy to wear and keep on the skin.

Of course that’s not to say it doesn’t have some noticeable faults. Despite the attractiveness of the product, we’re still definitely disappointed that it only comes in one shade, but that’s more of a trifle on our end. In terms of formula, we did also see some issues. First, there’s quite a bit of glitter fallout from the product, and the excess kind of makes its way to the cheeks, which might disturb you if that’s not the look you’re going for. Also, the wear time isn’t the best. The actual color and lustrousness of the product tend to fade out after a few hours of wear, which is disappointing.

Overall, we do think a lot of thought was put into the formula more than creating a range of colors, which made the formula much tighter, but made the product’s flaws that much more plain to see. Not bad, but definitely not among the best highlighters we’ve come across either.

SUITABLE FOR: All skin types.
