As one of the heights of luxury, why not go with an extravagant venue? This is what Hermes did for their Fall 2019 Menswear show, holding it at the Mobilier National, the French government ministry for state furniture. Here, different types of exuberant furniture, ranging from the Rococo era of the 1700s to the Art Deco of the 1920s, decorated the set on what was yet another show highlighting the French label’s indelible touch of supreme luxury. Suit upon suit was tailored to perfection, a testament to the skills of creative director Veronique Nichanian, and exemplified a quality fit that only a house like Hermes can achieve. This season, there was also a huge emphasis on their leather goods, not only on their bags but on their shoes as well. Trousers were cut so high that one can’t help but notice the shimmering buttery footwear the models donned as they paraded down the runway. Perhaps it was a message that fashion needs to venture beyond the sneaker trend? If these will be the alternatives, the industry, as well as the clients, may very well follow suit!
