Clinique Superprimer™ Universal Face Primer Review
Product Description
When you need your makeup to look extra great or to stay on longer, primers are essential. Clinique’s Superprimer™ Universal Face Primer claims to transform the face into a “smooth canvas for makeup,” and on that, at least it delivers. The product is light and easy to blend because of its slightly creamy formula. Even if it feels a little tacky upon initial application, the formula dries down soft and smooth. Unfortunately, this product has more issues to overcome than it helps to solve. Firstly, this primer is a little bit pricey, at $29.00 for a small amount of product. Despite the product’s smoothing properties, it has nothing to contribute in terms of oil control, so this may not be particularly effective for oily-skinned folks. It also doesn’t really add a lot to the overall wear time of makeup, kind of defeating the purpose of having the product in the first place. Overall, this just isn’t an outstanding primer, and tends to fade into the background where other products really shine in effectivity.

Clinique is known for both its makeup and skin care products. In terms of makeup, some of their products do toe the line between makeup and skin care. In the case of the Superprimer™ Universal Face Primer, this hybridity does it more harm than good in the long run because it lacks the strength to be a truly effective product, opting to feel like a slightly smooth moisturizer instead. If this is what you need in a primer, try it out, but beware of the lack of oil control and staying power.

SUITABLE FOR: Normal to dry skin.

Other Information:

  • The Clinique Superprimer™ Face Primer comes in two other variants apart from the original Universal: one to color-correct redness, and the other for discoloration on the skin.
