The Luxe Liquid Lip High Shine is an interesting new formula from Bobbi Brown. It claims to be a “luxuriously comfortable liquid lip formula,” and delivers to some extent.
This lipstick is very easy to put on. The applicator makes for a comfortable swiping experience, and you do get a fantastic amount of color in each swipe, so you don’t really have to go back and forth too much to get the real color of the product to come out. It also feels particularly soft on the lips. Once set, it binds into a beautiful lustrous coat that’ll make your lips look particularly plump.
But on the other hand, this lipstick feels a little heavy on the lips—even moreso than some liquid lipstick formulas out there. Whether you’ve just applied the product or it’s already set, it also tends toward feeling a little sticky for comfort, which is definitely more of a hindrance than it seems, and ties into the weight of the product on the lips. It also takes a particularly long time to actually set and stay on the lips, so that means a little more waiting time before you should really wear it out. Finally, the product doesn’t have the best grip. It’s easy for the color to wear out or chip when you’re using your lips, especially during meals.
Overall, we wouldn’t say it’s the best liquid lipstick out there—not even the best high-shine liquid lipstick. But it definitely serves its purpose, and you never know, it might work for you.
