The problem with branded luxury products is that the branding (and the price tag attached to it) are a huge part of what you end up judging. There’s a certain expectation of quality that, most of the time, these products will end up not meeting. This is the case for the Addict Lip Maximizer Plumping Gloss from Dior.
In all fairness, this product does do some good. The color this sets on the lips is gorgeous and natural, with a slight sheen. It’s definitely not lacking in luster, which is important for a lip gloss. True to its claim, it does do a little to plump lips, and make them look fuller.
But then, to be quite frank, the “maximizing” it promises is little more than a slight pout. Not that it doesn’t do anything, really, but it’s disappointing to see how little it ultimately delivers, especially with its $34.00 price tag. This is what I meant when I talked about expectations. It’s so easy to expect the best from something as seemingly high-quality and luxurious as this product. You can try to make your critique as objective and impartial as possible, but these things ultimately do complete the picture of your criticism, and you’d be remiss not to include them at all.
So what do we think? Ultimately, we found ourselves disappointed by this product, as we’ve made quite clear. While it also does pair quite beautifully with its sister product, the Addict Lip Glow to the Max (which we’ve reviewed here on the site before), this product just lacks the ability to stand on its own, and be truly effective as a product.
SUITABLE FOR: All skin types.
