Developed as a sister product to Benefit’s über-popular Roller Lash Mascara, the Roller Liner Liquid Eyeliner had a lot of eyes on it leading up to its release. Luckily for Benefit, the product did not disappoint. A felt-tip liquid eyeliner is not a rarity at all, but with the Roller Liner, its unusually long, flexible felt tip is one of the most notable keys to the product’s success. Applying a wing, no matter how small, to the corners of the eye is usually quite the daunting task, but with the Roller Liner, the length and flexibility of the felt tip is crucial to making it feel like a piece of cake. Along with the special felt tip, the product also succeeds because the formulation of its liquid liner is so highly pigmented that one swipe is enough to get good opacity. And while the product does tend to blur after a considerable amount of wear time, it’s still reliable enough for a day at the office, or a good night out.

Time and time again, Benefit Cosmetics has proven that it’s not all just cutesy, kitschy packaging that evokes a bygone time in product design—their products do pack a punch. While their Roller Liner Liquid Eyeliner will probably not achieve the same cult status its sister product, the Roller Lash Curling Mascara, still enjoys, it’s nonetheless an enjoyable product to use, and is reliable enough, especially for eyeliner beginners.
