We have to admit: we’re not always the biggest fans of glitter eyeliners. To some extent, they’re just excessive, and it’s not everyday that we need to bring that sparkle into our routine, especially because these kinds of products may be quite messy. But we’re very happy to report that the Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner from Urban Decay has made believers of us, and we do love it a lot.
We’re happy with the range of shades that this eyeliner is available in. With both bolder, brighter colors, as well as more subtle shades to make use of, this product can serve you in many different ways, depending on what you need it for. It’s also satisfying to see a glitter eyeliner with such opaque coverage—probably one of the most opaque we’ve seen out of the glitter eyeliners we’ve gotten to try out. In addition to beautiful color, the formula itself is also quite smooth and easy to apply, which makes applying this in a pinch so quick. The glitters of this product are also among the most fine we’ve encountered, making this product a whole lot less messy than its counterparts from other brands. And on top of these,  it’s also quite easy to get a decent wear time out of this glitter eyeliner—not the longest, mind you, but decent enough to last through a long day (or night, if that’s what you’re using it for).
That said, we have two pretty significant notes about this eyeliner. First, this eyeliner takes quite a bit of time to set fully, so you’re going to need your patience with this one, especially if you still have more layers of makeup to do after this product. Second, the water-based nature of this product makes it easy to apply but also means it’s not completely waterproof, so you have to be careful about what you encounter when you’re wearing this particular product out.
This product is definitely a favorite of ours, as far as glitter eyeliners go. The formula is solid and reliable, and definitely something we can see ourselves reaching for fairly often when we want a little more glitz and sparkle in our looks.
