Sometimes, we get a little bit overwhelmed with emotions resulting in plenty of heaving and crying. When you’re wearing makeup, the results can be pretty disastrous, with you ending up resembling a raccoon more than a functional, well-adjusted human being. It is in this vein that the Emotionproof Eyeliner was created by Tom Ford Beauty. This product claims to be able to withstand extremely emotional situations, but honestly? Meh.
To be fair, there are a couple of things about this eyeliner that we like. This product comes in a fair range of colors, so you’re free to go either with a classic color, or something bolder and more exciting. The colors are also very-well selected to maximize the number of skin tones they can flatter, so touché, Tom Ford. The eyeliner is also particularly resistant to smudging. Especially if you’re going to be using this in the lower lash line, this can be a pretty handy quality for a product to have.
But at the same time, there is a multitude of important things we really, truly dislike about the way this product has been made. First, it’s tough to apply, and by that, we mean it kind of hurts to apply. Something about the shape of the pencil tip makes it uncomfortable to put on, and also makes it drag just a little bit while you’re applying. The color also goes on a little bit too patchy necessitating a little bit of back and forth. This can be really annoying when you’re trying to go for precision because it just takes way too much time to keep repeating your strokes for stronger color payoff over and over again. This eyeliner also doesn’t wear for too long. For us at least, by the five-hour mark, the product was already beginning to disappear from our eyes, leaving behind a sort-of messy stain.
To us, it feels like this product had so much promise before it seems the rug was pulled out from under it. We find this shocking because normally, while Tom Ford Beauty products are generally up there in price (including this one), the actual products themselves actually work quite well. This one, on the other hand, just… had nothing to show for. What a shame—a blemish upon the Tom Ford Beauty brand.
