Giorgio Armani is still a master of his craft after more than 40 years in the luxury game. Only he can create 33 stellar bags for his Spring 2019 womenswear show that almost overshadowed the actual clothes. The most surprising were the ones with nets and basket weaves, both of which were in line with the overall aquatic theme of the collection. These bags had a slightly kitschy sense of humor to them, especially knowing Armani to be the stiff sophisticate of Italian luxury. The metallic and glittered purses also evoked a more youthful vibe, particularly in their shades of blue-green and fuschia pink. Ultimately, the vast array of crocodile skins helped reset the accessories to go back to the more old-school elegant direction. Luxury needs fine craftsmen, and the industry is blessed to still have men in the caliber of Mr. Armani.
