Designer Yoon Ahn imagines what a human-like alien might wear when he/she descends upon earth. In this instance, the world has frozen over—touching on the world’s current climate change issues—and the visiting lifeforms are wearing fuzzy knit sweaters and oversized cotton parkas. Inspired by the film “The Man Who Fell to Earth,” Ahn put forth a startling narrative on the importance and dependence of man to sportswear for Ambush’s Fall 2019 Menswear Collection. A stylish survival comes in the vividly-hued parkas, metallic anoraks, and a few ballooned parachute dresses for women in the mix. There was functionality in this line that was both startling yet fascinating, in it that they really seemed to prepare the wearer, not just for harsh weather condition, but for any drastic apocalyptic eventuality as well. But the footwear, however, gave the look a more Earthly tone. Here, in collaboration with Converse, hi-cut sneakers gave this seemingly dystopic wardrobe an urban streetwear edge, slightly toning down the narrative. Against all other pieces, these shoes are bound the be the bestsellers in the bunch!
