Femininity is fearless. This is an adage that is extremely relevant now with the #MeToo movement and the fight to end the gender pay gap. For Adam Lippes, it’s also the starting point for his Resort 2019 collection. In the midst of powerful androgynous trends, Lippes put out an unapologetically feminine collection complete with feathers, and lace. At first look, one can’t escape the retro vibe that took inspiration from the haute couture shows of Yves Saint Laurent and Emilio Pucci, but one also can’t deny the staunch modernity in its entirety. The florals, in particular—inspired by the elegant medical philanthropist Deeda Blair— was the perfect accent to evoke the dainty femininity without sacrificing the strength of the woman.
