Only in a fashion collection can two completely different worlds collide so beautifully. Such was prominently evident at Adam Lippes’ spring 2019 collection, which was inspired by the designer’s travels through Africa and South America. Also evident, however, were the distinct haute couture silhouettes originated by Cristobal Balenciaga and Hubert de Givenchy. This clash of cultures, both ethnic and elegant, resulted in a modern and global wardrobe consisting of oversized coats, impactful cocktail frocks, and red carpet-ready evening gowns. In a time where many are too focused on social media, it’s definitely reassuring that Lippes is one of many designers that still understand his woman as his muse and contemporary.
