What would young (and the young-at-heart) people love to do if they have all the money in the world? More often than not, the answer would be to travel the world. A lot of them do, but for them, it’s a never-ending gallivant through the world’s hostels, where people all over the world get to congregate and share adventures, ideas, and experiences. But what if, instead of staying in hostels, these young nomads get to stay in five-star hotels instead? What would they be feeling? Or more importantly, what would they wear? Pigalle presents an interesting proposition for such a case. In their Fall 2019 collection, designer Stéphane Ashpool offers a luxurious take on sportswear that’s more in the line of high-class travel. A fine plum shearling coat looked like a bathrobe one would get to use in a hotel, while a shimmering pair of silky trousers (worn with a similarly shiny pleather jacket) was akin to silk pajamas. A satin purple overcoat is the right outerwear to stroll Paris in on a cold day, while a velvety burgundy jacket is the right layering for a night out on the town. If there are still critics out there who insist that streetwear can never be luxurious, this collection has just proven otherwise!
