Normally, a disconnect between a collection and its references would be a bad thing. But Saks Potts’ Fall 2019 collection was so chic and daring, we feel they should be forgiven this season. Here, Cathrine Saks and Barbara Potts’ inspiration was mostly about relaxation, to the point that they presented their latest line in an actual spa in Paris. But when one sees the clothes, relaxation might probably be the farthest from the mind. While the silhouettes were classic and chic, other elements were wild and out there. Highlighter shades of hot pink and bright orange painted a series of dresses, suits, and outerwear. A particular standout was an elegantly long hooded jumpsuit that was sleek, slick, and super sexy. A more streetwise approach came in the degrade ensembles, which featured mattress-like puffer jackets and lambskin coats. These were probably the most noteworthy outerwear pieces in the entire collection. One would think the neutrality of black and white would calm things down, but when they were offered by ways of color-blocked items and zebra-printed coats, dresses, and even bikinis (for fall, no less!), things got even wilder! But this is the sort of wildness women love nowadays, which means come fall, the streets will be a jungle out there, courtesy of Saks Potts!
