The Sara Battaglia woman is a party girl through and through. Even when she’s reached certain ages, she’s likely to still spend most of her nights in clubs having a good time. And why shouldn’t she? The Milanese designer emphasized in her Fall 2019 collection that the party girl need not disappear when one ages, but rather go with her as she matures. And so this season, instead of going for body-con mini-dresses that are within the likes of Versace and Balmain, pantsuits and separates are the names of the game. With exaggerated flares and extremely nipped waists, her signature strong silhouettes were on full force here, magnified through suits made in shimmering velvet, fierce leopard print, or a more subdued and innocent-like peach plaid pattern. They’re sexy and glamorous, but you can’t help but also feel they look rather vulgar at times too. In all honesty, there wasn’t any need for those exaggerated flares, especially if one expects to dance in a club in them. Imagine how many stilettoes will step on those flares when the party gets lit! Anyone who wears them for a night out is sure to come home in a tattered and dirtier outfit. And the yellow furs? It’s best to forget about them! However, Battaglia does deserve some credit for attempting to elevate and refine the “party girl” look for mature women, but this still a far cry from sophistication. They’re too “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” than “mature Milanese party girl.”
