Oftentimes, when we see a black leather dress, we think of sexy dominatrixes in control of their own lives and sexuality. Not, however, when it’s from Osman. His own take on such a piece is classic and sophisticated, but ultimately extremely somber too. The shimmer of the material didn’t even do anything to the overall bleakness of the downplayed glamour, and such was the underlying principle of his Fall 2019 collection. Osman Yousefzada is a creative and crafty designer, we’ll give him that! But his latest offering was just so depressing and sad that we can’t say we enjoyed it all that much. From the floral veils that looked like funeral-wear to the dark leather pieces, it seemed like the designer was going through something. But we’re not here to judge another person’s state of mind, we’re here to judge his creations. This season, a lot of them seemed incomplete. Case in point: long-sleeved top with a sequinned high-neckline and exaggerated ruffles by the decolletage. There were already three ideas on that one piece and all looked half-assed in terms of execution. And pairing it with poorly cut leather trousers didn’t help either! The world needs happy glamour now, not this depressive mess!
