As soon as Kaia Gerber stepped out on the runway in a twisted take on a tweed suit and cobalt blue tights, the audience knew that Anna Sui’s Fall 2019 show would be fun and electric! And was it ever! Inspired by the swinging 60s, the designer sent out a barrage of quirky spins of bourgeoisie dressing and classic bohemian styles that have long been her signature in all the decades she’s been one of New York’s most indelible fashion designers. At times, the vibrancy of her palette became a bit overwhelming, but that is what draw people to her cooky, slightly innocent and inexplicably subversive presentations. In one look, various shades of indigo painted an ensemble of a long and slouchy cardigan paired with brocade trousers. A hot pink take on a tweed suit had such vibrant pipings and was paired with purple tights, no less, was a feast for the eyes. And for those bohemian sophisticated out there, an emerald green brocade pantsuit with marabou feather trim was the right balance of fun and elegance! It looks like fall is going to look a lot quirkier thanks to Anna Sui!
