“It’s about the aesthetics of a dream but also about ethics,” said Kean Etro. He was talking about his latest Fall 2019 Menswear collection in his eponymous fashion house, which was an incredibly beautiful offering that mixed patterns, textiles, and color together in a dream-like manner. The ‘aesthetics of a dream’ part of the line was the various fairytale motifs that decorated the well-cut pieces. One could make out the slithering dragon on the floral-printed yellow bomber, while another will faintly see the flurry of fairies in a similarly flower-centric burgundy suit. The way the prints and patterns blended or clashed against each other was a testament to the rich eye that’s long been the strong force behind the Etro brand. Such visual appeals can almost make one feel as if they’re looking into a dream. But this dream, however, is very much rooted in reality. The ethics part of the collection was that most, possibly even all of the items here were made out of upcycled/recycled materials and fabrics made out of sustainable means. In their part of giving out beauty, the Etro label is also contributing to making sure the world itself remains a beautiful place!
