Hussein Chalayan is hardly a designer that embraces sportswear, but his Fall 2019 show was full of it. This season, the inventive designer is setting his sights up on the mountains, creating a refined wardrobe of ski-gear and winterwear that are as functional as they were fashionable and resplendently desireable. Firstly, the tailoring was as precise as ever, albeit slightly oversized for comfort, but still shapely enough to compliment the body, not overpower it. Materials ranged from the coziest of wool and cashmere to glimmering leather panels and footwear for a slightly fetishistic approach on the slopes. Perhaps the most creative touch in this line was the color palette, wherein within the grey tones of charcoal and gunmetal were bright highlighter shades of neon yellow and orange, as well as a delicate tone of pale fern green. As the show went on, the show got a bit cozier, trading in the more industrial outerwear for the likes of slouchy cardigans and soft scarves. Whether a gentleman is zooming down the slopes or chilling in the cabin, his wardrobe is certainly answered this winter by Mr. Chalayan!
