There’s a new look to work-wear that designer Daiki Suzuki is playing with this season. His brand, Engineered Garments, is all about creating clothes that are both functional and fashionable, putting the two together in perfect harmony without sacrificing one over the other. His efforts are paid off in his widely fascinating Fall 2019 Menswear collection. Here, he put rich and slightly glamorous spins on ordinary work clothes that made them look more fashion-forward than initially conceived. A winter-wear parka, for example, was made up of patchwork velvets that gave off a certain shimmer that no ordinary parka usually has. A streamlined coat was in leopard print, and while this had all the makings of a tacky garment, here it was simply chic and refined. The same goes with the brocade separates for both men and women that allow them to have hints of romanticism in their everyday wardrobes. This is what fashion is all about: making the most ordinary of clothing look extraordinarily beautiful!
