Phoebe English has been one of the silent but vital voices for sustainable style in recent years. In her Fall 2019 Menswear offering, she remained faithful to her cause, seeking recycled fabrics and eco-friendly processes in constructing her clothes. Firstly, almost all of the colors one sees in this collection were dyed using vegetable waste, which led to a stunning shade of powder pink on an anorak a beautiful plum-like hue for a cotton set of separates. Plastic was also banned from this line and instead, English made use of milk protein for her buttons and fastenings. In terms of recycling, she used old leftover fabrics and patchworked them together into the romantically draped shirts for men and the free-form frocks for women. As desirable as they are to look at, such pieces are more valuable with the sustainability used to create them!
