With all the complications the world is seeing nowadays, sometimes simplicity would be the most refreshing. At least, this was what designer Andrea Incontri proposed in his Fall 2019 menswear collection for Tod’s. Make no mistake, however, that just because his offering is simple doesn’t mean it’s basic. In fact, it’s the sheer minimalism in such pieces that offer a sort of necessary refuge in a time when even articles of clothing are already regarded as political paraphernalia. The simplicity here is also classic, reworked with a modern eye for design and traditional craftsmanship. A stark white turtleneck, for example, had the brand’s logo on it—a hybrid of both standard sophistication with a tinge of the streetwear trend of logomania. A cable-knit sweater was also a point of interest, what with the contrasting hues of the torso and the sleeves that offered a new dimension to it. All in all, what this collection stated is that, at some point, simplicity will be the best answer!
