The word “easy” has different connotations within the fashion industry. A negative connotation might attribute it as lazy, especially when pertaining to the crafty side of the field. While a more positive spin on it, on the other hand, lets in the idea of relaxed clothes that are easy to slip on and look cool in. This season, for Editions MR, it’s all about the latter connotation of the word. We feel that there’s no other term that could best describe founder Mathieu de Ménonville‘s new Fall 2019 Menswear line. Granted most of the pieces here were borderline basics, they were, however, elevated to a whole new level of luxury in terms of sophisticated cuts and fine fabrications. You can almost feel the utter softness of the pale blue cashmere sweaters cut so precisely on the male (and at times, female) forms. Or the strictness of the checked wool that was made into well-cut suits and outerwear. Weirdly enough, this was a colorful collection that made use of such hues like sky blue, moss green, toned-down crimson, tiger orange, and a pop of bright yellow. But at the same time, with how the line was expertly styled, and the colors so beautifully saturated, they didn’t overwhelm the eyes. Just goes to show that this brand knows a thing or two about refinement, because apart from the word ‘easy,’ ‘refined’ also best describes this incredible collection.
