The KissKiss Matte Lipstick is a relatively new offering from Guerlain’s cosmetics arm. While this product isn’t one of Guerlain’s more iconic products, its surging popularity definitely makes it an interesting subject.
The blocky gold encasement of the lipstick immediately catches the eye, and captures the imagination—about what kind of product rests inside, and how good it actually is. To that end, it’s pretty good, the pigmentation present in the lipstick formula is strong, needing less effort to get some strong, vivid color out of it. It’s also capable of staying on the lips for a decent amount of time, especially for a bullet lipstick formula.
Formula-wise, perhaps the biggest downside to this product is how harshly it mattifies the lips. For a bullet-type lipstick, this lipstick is surprisingly drying—definitely not on the level of a matte liquid lipstick, but definitely more drying than your average matte bullet lipstick. In some ways, this is also a benefit, but we do have to leave it in the negative column because of how uncomfortable the matte finish of the product is. Of course, the price is also a downside. $37.00 is a lot to be paying for lipstick, so you’re really gonna have to weigh your choices with this product.
Generally, the KissKiss Matte Lipstick is a pretty formidable product with an impressive formula that only slightly goes sideways.
