We’ve been wanting to check out Wet n Wild’s MegaSlicks Lip Gloss line for a little while now. There’s been a ton of positive word-of-mouth about this product online for a while now, so we decided to just give into the hype, and try it out.
We actually really like the amount of pigmentation this lip gloss carries. It’s not the most pigmented or coverage-heavy as far as lip glosses (or any lip products, really) go, but it gives a very decent amount of coverage without being overwhelmingly pigmented, which is a very good thing for a lip gloss. The shimmer of this lip gloss is also a little bit different from other lip glosses we’ve encountered. Instead of going for a glassy look, this lip gloss is a little bit shimmery, which we can appreciate because many glassy finishes tend to look indistinct. Also, even though the product isn’t the most long-lasting, it’s very lightweight, which makes it very comfortable to wear and reapply as needed.
We do have some issues and reservations with the formula, though. First off, this product does have a strong scent—and when we say “scent,” we don’t mean a natural fragrance. We were shocked that it smelled (and tasted) rather chemical-like, which shifted our experience with this product by quite a bit. It wouldn’t be so bad if the scent dissipated after some time, but it really lingers, and even sometimes gets in your mouth. It’s also a little bit too sticky, but it’s definitely not as bad as other sticky lip glosses we’ve encountered.
All-in-all, for a product that barely costs anything to purchase, we were really satisfied with this product. In our minds, the downsides of this product are basically trade-offs of creating a product that looks this good while still being quite inexpensive, so we’re willing to look the other way a little bit, even if the issues are quite noticeable for us.
SUITABLE FOR: All skin types.
