Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Satin Lipstick Review
Product Description
For a product that's named after one of the most ubiquitous schoolyard chants in the history of schoolyards, the K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick is surprisingly sophisticated (or not surprisingly as this is Charlotte Tilbury after all) and well-formulated non-matte lipsticks we've ever come across. In one product, you get fantastic pigmentation, precision and hydration to spare. Besides not having the best wear time of a bullet-type lipstick we've ever seen, other brands should take note: not all lipsticks have to be matte to be good.

Even though the product’s name is meant to evoke something as seemingly juvenile as the schoolyard chant (the one that begins with two people “sitting in a tree”), Charlotte Tilbury has created a mature, sophisticated product in the K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick. In a way, this callback to our youths is also meant to signal the “classic” feel of this product, both in its presentation and its shade offerings.

From the get-go, with its luxurious rosy gold tube packaging, the product harkens back to an age of classic beauty, as is the norm for all products by Charlotte Tilbury. This formula definitely ain’t a slouch. Truthfully, this may be one of the most consistently pigmented lipsticks we’ve encountered in the beauty world. Even with one swipe, you get strong, consistent color. True, these aren’t bold shades or anything—in fact, they’re just the opposite—but the way this coated our lips was astoundingly effortless. The shape of the lipstick bullet also makes it quite easy to get a precise application and get your lips looking flawless. We also admire it for not being a matte lipstick in this day and age where mattes have become the trend in lipstick formulation. Not being matte gives it an advantage in that it just feels so comfortable on the lips.

One of our only critiques for this lipstick is that it feels a little bit sticky. Not necessarily awful sticky, but just enough for us to notice. But it’s better than the product feeling like a wax cast over your lips. Another thing we’d like to point out is that it doesn’t have the most intense staying power. Sure, we knew going in that it wasn’t a matte lipstick, and we weren’t expecting it to stay as long as such. But it still wears off a little too much for our taste.

Generally, the Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipsticks are a wonder to behold. The formula is definitely one of the more comfortable but pigmented formulas we’ve had the pleasure of trying. And while it’s not perfect, it’s definitely high, high up our list.

SUITABLE FOR: All skin types.
