If Philipp Plein had his way, women would always look like powerful, sexy dominatrixes. But for now, his Pre-Fall 2019 collection will do. This season, it’s all about “more is more” as all of the pieces from this offering have something extra in them. Leather jackets and tight-jeans are all covered in studs, denim pieces are draped with chainmail, and puffer vests and fur coats are oversized. This is a rock’n’roll chick that’s unafraid to showcase her power in her clothes, even though the entire look might seem too much. Although when separated, these pieces can still covetable and highly luxurious, even the shimmering silver tights. Surprisingly, the looks were mostly covered up, save for a flaming red-orange set that bore the shoulders and the midriff. It also an unusually sophisticated collection from the notorious designer, beginning with the houndstooth outfits, particularly the pantsuit, as well as a number of tailored ensembles that were elegant and streamlined. Whichever way a woman wants to show her power, be it with a leather biker jacket covered in studs or a stunning black silk pantsuit, she’s bound to dominate either way when she’s wearing Philipp Plein!
