The main mission for many of today’s designers is how to take on tailoring in a new way. Evidently. tailoring is the big trend nowadays, a sort of counter-reaction to the maximalist streetwear fads that dominated in recent years. And while most of the big names in the industry adhere to this trend, so do the quieter and more niche-based contemporary labels as well. Fortunately for Sisi Li, design director of Nells Nelson, she’s come up with a new approach for Fall 2019 that’s sure to excite her clientele: knitted tailoring. This season, Li has forgone the standard wovens for the likes of herringbone and cashmere to construct her sleek and sophisticated array of suits and outerwear. And her idea was so finely executed that you wouldn’t know the difference at first glance. Despite the selection consisting basically of knitwear, these aren’t and don’t look like leisurewear. With such astounding precision and sophistication, these suits and dresses are perfect for a whole day of work and cocktail parties, all the while feeling comfortable and at ease. Come fall, many women would be sporting such looks in their day-to-day lives!
