Who doesn’t love Studio 54? The memory of such a monument still inspires designers in defining new glamour for a whole new generation. One such is Michael Kors, whose Fall 2019 show was a tribute to the said nightclub and all the style icons that partied there. But what was most interesting about this seasonal line was that it wasn’t just a rehash of all the glamour and sparkle of yesteryear, but also a look into the wardrobe of women who redefined their sex in such a revolutionary era. The show started with slightly masculine looks of bohemian style, mixed with Michael Kors signatures of Americana femininity. This was best exemplified with Gigi Hadid‘s opening look of a charcoal blazer, nipped at the waist over a striped shirt and a floral floaty skirt. And before you know it, the glamour of the nightclub descended. A stand-out look was a sparkling royal purple lame dress with a matching feather boa. With her wild curly hair, the model seemed to channel Diana Ross—one of those icons who frequented the former hotspot in its heyday. Another was 70s supermodel Patti Hansen, who closed this show in a stunning bronze pantsuit that was tailored to perfection. Her presence sealed the deal that this was a glamorous show New York will never forget!
