Mary Katrantzou has officially entered demi-couture territory with her Fall 2019 show. It began with Natalia Vodianova‘s ostentatious yellow-feathered creation that opened the show. The Russian supermodel looked like a high fashion canary off to a big ball—one that other frilly and feathery women are bound to attend as well. With a rainbow palette of interesting hues, from burgundy and teal to lemon yellow and bright tangerine, Katrantzou created a fantasy world that was less fairytale and more fabulous and glamorous. While oftentimes the frills and feathers got too much—to the point that you no longer see the woman wearing it—it was still completely celebratory and fun. Making a comeback were her signature digital prints, splattered over the few tinges of daywear amidst all the feathered fancy. However, it’s highly likely that after this show, these frocks will be seen on a number of red carpet events!
